He was in that plastic cone for 10 whole days... I still have little red lines on my legs from where he'd barrel into them full speed. I'm SO glad that's over with. LOL. So, since he had such a long down time, we've really tried to be outside a lot these last few weeks, enjoying these cool, bright spring days (hence the lack of blogging) and Toby seems to be no worse for the wear really after getting fixed, though I'm still waiting for his energy level to drop :P
We did have a fun adventure this weekend! Down near the waterfront the local humane society and a doggie daycare place got together and sponsored a "Happy Hour" for pet owners. How can you pass up drinks and doggies and a beautiful day outside!?! So, we piled Toby into the car, assureing him that he have tons off fun and that we were NOT going to the vet, and drove on down.
It was pretty cool! The water was beautiful and there were lots of boats passing by, which utterly fascinated Toby LOL, especially when they blew their horns :P And, I was amazed that amidst all the wonderful distraction, I actually got him to pose for me!
"This is WAY better than our last car trip!"
After our brief dockside photo shoot, we wandered our way back through he tents. Toby met lots of interesting doggies, a few labs and some doxies, and there was one table with about 12 yorkies LOL. Toby was none too thrilled with them though... they were a little too yappy. As we passed by more owners and doggies, low and behold there was a corgi! A little Tri- Colored cutie! He was just hangin' in the shade with his owners. We had to say hi!
We soon found out his name was Sammy. He was super laid back, I didn't know corgi's came like that! LOL. He was pretty happy to meet Toby and they seemed to like each other a lot so, we sat down and chatted with Sammy's people while he and Toby proceeded to find new ways to tangle themselves between our legs, it was great.
Everyone just kinda walked through the area at their own pace, stopping to introduce themselves and their dogs, so while we sat at Sammy's table a lot of other puppies came over to say hi. Here's a few:
"Hey, Sammy look more friends!"
"Momma... what's this curly thingy?"
"I like you, you smell like treats!"
It was really a great even for Toby to get some exposure to other dogs in a more controlled way; he's usually very timid at the dog park and mostly just finds the nearest human, sits on his little bunny-butt and begs to be petted LOL. As the afternoon went on, he got a bit bolder and even started to try to meet the big dogs! (Even a great dane!)
But, mostly he just liked sitting in the cool shade, chillin' with his new friend Sammy. Corgi's gotta stick together!
Cute! Gotta love corgi encounters!! :)
ReplyDeleteToby sure is a GORGEOUS dog! I bet you/he get lots of attention when you take him out and about.
ReplyDeletesounds like a fun adventure for Toby! I can't imagine he had to wear that cone for 10 days; poor you and him!! Koda (remember he is very spoiled) loves car rides. We take him pretty much anytime we can if it is not too hot to leave him in the car if we run a quick errand. He cries when we leave since he wants to go with us. We also specifically take him for car rides on the weekends,LOL. So when he gets in the car he has no idea if we are going to the dreaded vet.
ReplyDeleteThat tri corgi looked a lot like Koda :)
glad you guys all had an enjoyable time doing this outing :)

Just found your site as a link from another Corgi one and fell in love with Toby! What a sweetheart and how lucky you are to have him! Love the waterfront shots and just wondered where they were taken?
ReplyDeleteLiked seeing the tri. Looks like my girl when she was younger.

Corgis seem to attract one another. You don't see any for years, get a puppy then BAM corgis everywhere! They tend to like each other a lot too.
